NASHVILLE, TN – Chroma Energy Group is proud to announce its recent collaboration with Poplar Bend Apartments, an affordable housing development at 8200 McCrory Lane in Nashville, Tennessee.

Chroma Energy Group designed and installed 1,000 kW of clean, affordable solar power at the 329 unit apartment complex, offering a sustainable solution to reduce resident utility costs.

“This project represents the growing synergy between renewable energy and affordable housing,” said Ed Rottmann, Chief Executive Officer of Chroma Energy Group. “Our custom-tailored solar arrays can directly reduce residents’ utility bills — a major concern in Nashville and throughout Tennessee. With solar power, the goal is to help residents save money while improving a community’s energy efficiency and resiliency.”

Chroma Energy Group’s expert team custom-designed Poplar Bend’s new solar array to seamlessly integrate into the community’s existing land and infrastructure.

The installation includes 400 kW of rooftop solar panels, spread across 14 apartment buildings, as wells as a unique, 600 kW ground-mounted system in the development’s stormwater retention pond.

As land availability decreases, the need for efficient land use has increased. By building in stormwater retention ponds like the one at Poplar Bend, Chroma Energy Group offers a creative solution to install large-scale solar systems in otherwise unusable areas.

The installation will also include real-time monitoring software that tracks the system’s production, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability.

“Integrating state-of-the-art solar power into the Poplar Bend community is part of our broader vision to create a cleaner, more resilient and more affordable energy future for all,” said Rottman. “Affordable housing is about more than just affordable rent — it’s about helping families build financial security. By lowering energy costs, residents are able to keep more money in their pockets, which can help them achieve long-term goals like homeownership.”

As the need for affordable housing and renewable energy solutions continues to grow, Chroma Energy Group is excited to continue engaging with affordable housing developers to expand access to cost-saving, renewable energy integration.
